Unless you are running the Boston Marathon, what better way to spend Marathon Monday than taking the day off to watch the race with friends? With mimosas in hand? Yes, that is what happened for the marathon in 2018. How can one be productive at work when your favorite runners are racing one of your favorite races to watch? ( and hopefully one day participate in!) My name is Karen and I geek out for all the famous marathons. It is what it is.
Kimberly hosted a couple of us at her house on Marathon Monday. We treated ourselves to a far easier work day than usual by spending the morning watching this iconic race with lemon blueberry scones and wild rice cakes from the Run Fast Eat Slow cookbook. Seeing Des Linden at the start, rooting for her and Jordan Hasay (oh, and the men running, too) was exciting. Even more, knowing some of our friends from running group were running in Boston too–we tracked them all. Cheering for the wild men’s finish and smiling as we watched Des’s emotion as she blew kisses to the crowd at the finish line. This is how to do Marathon Monday! Unless of course one day I am lucky enough to experience and run this race myself!
